Actress. Born in Larne, Ireland, she began her career on the London stage but soon entered the cinema. She is best remembered for her role of Elisabeth Frankenstein in the classic horror film "Bride of Frankenstein" (1935), and as Stella in "Great Expectations" (1946). She also appeared in "Eyes of Fate" (1933), "Two Hearts in Waltz Time" (1934), "Mistery of Edwin Drood" (1935), "Rendezvous at Midnight" (1935), "Werewolf of London" (1935), "Contraband" (1940), "Blanche Fury" (1947), "Kind Hearts and Coronets" (1949), and "Background" (1953). Hobson was married to producer Anthony Havelock-Allan from 1939 to 1952 and later to politician John Profumo.
