Juanita Mae Conrad Sutton, 81, of Harrisonburg, formerly of Elkins, WV, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born May 29, 1932 in Pickens, WV, to the late Agnes Gertrude Geyer and Ordie Ogden Conrad.

Juanita was an active member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Elkins, WV, where she taught Sunday School and Intellectually Disabled Adults and was a member of the choir. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked at the Elkins Convalescent Home in Elkins. In 1988, she moved to Harrisonburg and worked for many years with First Choice Home Health.

Juanita excelled in her capacity for being kind and compassionate to others and was known for her remarkable spirit and sense of humor.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ordie O. Conrad, Jr. and James E. Conrad; a sister, Gracie Marie Price; and her daughter, Darlene Ann Lucas.

She is survived by five daughters, Violet Slagel of Canton, OH, Doris Halpin and husband Jay, of Ohio, Roberta Wilmore and husband Ron, of Harrisonburg, Lena Shackelford and husband Rich, of Broadway, and Marilyn Noethlich and husband Dan, of Elkton. Also surviving are two sisters, Betty Johnson of Laurel, MD, and Monna Markley of Waldorf, MD; two brothers, Randall Conrad of Pickens, WV, and William Conrad and wife Zita, of Mill Creek, WV; nine grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.

Juanita was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2pm Tuesday afternoon January 7, 2014 at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg by Pastor Brett Davis. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be private.
