Edward J. Gladysz passed away peacefully at 6:40 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014, in of Clepper Manor, Sharon, where he was a resident for four years. He was 96.

Mr. Gladysz was born Sept. 10, 1917, in Farrell, a son of John and Katherine Jacek Gladysz.

A lifelong area resident, he was a 1936 graduate of Farrell High School. He worked at a steel mill in Canton, Ohio, for four years where he met his wife Lois Mulig, whom he married March 2, 1946, in St. Adalbert Church, Farrell.

Edward then worked for General American Transportation Corp.'s former Masury plant as a machinist for 38 years before retiring.

He sang in St. Adalbert's choir for many years and was noted for his ability to sing in Polish, which he also could speak fluently. He loved bowling where he was a member of the Senior Bowling League at Sunset Lanes, Farrell.

His favorite pastime was gardening, planting flowers and vegetables. His specialty was growing juicy ripe tomatoes which he shared with family, friends, and neighbors. Edward would take boxes of his vegetables to the Prince of Peace Center in Farrell to help feed people in need.

He also enjoyed playing cards at the former New Deal Club of Farrell and especially playing cards at home with his family.

He leaves: his wife of 68 years, Lois Mulig Gladysz; a daughter, Carol L. Ducay and her husband Fred, Hubbard; a sister, Stella Kohut, Edison, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews. Edward will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him including his granddog Carly who visited him frequently at Clepper Manor.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Nancy Jean Gladysz who passed away Dec 10, 1969; a sister Marie Smock; and a brother Joseph Gladysz.

Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery, Hermitage.
