Amy Sue Berry passed away on July 13, 2014 at Norman Regional Hospital and took her place in heaven. She was born on March 15, 1937 in Nyaka, Oklahoma to Jessie and Oma Smith.
The family moved to Weleetka in 1942. Amy met Richard Berry on a blind date in August 1954 and following her graduation from Weleetka High School in May 1955 they married on June 24, 1955. They lived in Oklahoma City and Bethany before moving to Norman in 1967 where they have lived since.
Amy was a homemaker while raising her children and worked part-time as a school cafeteria cashier. She later worked at Dillard's and retired after fifteen years. She attended church all her life and had been a member of Alameda Church of Christ since 1979. Throughout her life she enjoyed volunteering in the church, working in the flower garden and doing various crafts such as cross-stitch, scrapbooking and making cards for friends and family. Her greatest joy in life was raising her children and then spoiling her grandchildren.
Her parents, five sisters, and two brothers preceded Amy in death. She is survived by her husband Richard; children Steve and wife Liz of Phoenix, Arizona; Stan and wife Cheryl of Norman; Jennifer Cook and husband Dale of Norman; grandchildren Stephanie Berry of Miami, Florida, Matthew and Lauren Berry of Phoenix, Kimberly and Allison Berry of Norman, Ben and wife Abby, Brandon, and Andrew Cook of Norman; her brother Joe Smith of Bryan, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will begin at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 16, at Alameda Church of Christ, 801 East Alameda Street, Norman, OK 73071. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Norman, OK.
