Fredna Mae Schrade joined her husband John, in heaven on Saturday morning, July 5, 2014 and they immediately started their eternal vacation together.

She was born August 26, 1916 in Dallas County Texas to
Annie Evaline Kennedy Chase and Richard Hyte Chase. She graduated from Hebron High School in 1934.

Fredna married her heart's true love, John Schrade, on September 1, 1934. They happily celebrated sixty-four years of marriage together.

The newlyweds were first a farm family, then she was later employed with Union Bankers Insurance Company and Sanger's department store in Dallas, Texas. After retiring from the public sector, she devoted her time to her husband, son, Bobby Don and family. She developed very strong cooking skills and became known as one of the best cooks in the area, which was enjoyed by everyone who came to visit in her home. She always prided herself on having food on the table and dessert on the counter. Although she made many sweet treats, her specialty was her homemade fried apricot pies. She enjoyed fishing with her avid fisherman husband at area lakes and in particular at Cross Lakes, Shreveport, Louisiana. Accompanied by many family members including her husband, she went on numerous hunting trips on the family deer lease in the fall. She and John vacationed on several adventures to Arkansas and Tennessee.

After her husband passed away in 1999, she continued to live in her home and travel extensively with her son, Bobby Don and her son by choice, Charles Tingle. Fredna also enjoyed celebrations in her home including family gatherings and birthdays. Her love of gardening included working in her flower beds and vegetable garden. She loved colorful mixed flowers in her yard and in her home. She said she "enjoyed working in the soil and watching the plants grow."

She was a member of the Rowlett Historical Society and Rowlett First Baptist Church. Her love of her family and extended family gave her hours of happy memories as she nurtured and cared for family members' children.

Proceeded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Stephen Layne Schrade, one brother, Virgil Chase, and six sisters Annie Orleana Williams, Velma Addline Slaughter, Viola Collier, Ivy Chase, Ruby Wolford, Macy Ruth Chase Schrade.

She will be sadly missed by her son Bobby Don Schrade and her son by choice for the last thirty-eight years Charles Tingle of Highland Village, Texas, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Vernon and Lorene Schrade of Rowlett, and numerous nieces and nephews in the extended Schrade and Chase families.

Pallbearers include: Richard, James, and Steven Schrade, Kevin and Kyle Webb, Billy and Greg Foster, and Thomas Bennett.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 9th from 6-8pm in Bluebonnet Hall at Williams Funeral Home, 1600 South Garland Road, Garland Texas. Celebration of Fredna Schrade's life will be held Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the sanctuary First Baptist Church, 4309 Main Street, Rowlett, Texas.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff of Altus Hospice who brought peace and comfort to Fredna in her final hours in her home. Special gratitude is lovingly given to the staff of Right at Home, In Home Care & Assistance, and in particular to her favorite caregiver, Vicki Stein, who provided excellent homecare and companionship to Fredna for the last two years of her life.
