Donald Lewis Adams, 86, of Endicott, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at Willow Point Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Frank Adams, Margaret Harman and stepfather, Neil Harman; brother, John (Jack) Adams; sister, Barbara (Bobbie) Huopana; brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Betty Powell, Mary Jane and Albert Abbott, and Ruth and William Blazey.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Marguerite (Powell) Adams; children, Vanessa (Michael) Elswick of Charlottesville, VA, Donald F. (Gloria) Adams of Piscataway, NJ, Kathleen (Robert) Nedbalski of Endicott and Linda Monroe and Pete Katz of Charlottesville, VA; one granddaughter, Marguerite and (Kwame); five grandsons, Kenneth and (Tami), Zachary, Michael and (Bethany), Ryan and Kyle; one great-granddaughter, Hermione. Also a special friend and brother-in-law, Richard Huopana of Durham, NC; brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Arlene Powell of Endwell and Pauline Shea of Binghamton; also many loving nieces and nephews.

Don was a Union-Endicott graduate who followed U-E sports for 75 years, enjoying his booster seats for the U-E Tigers.

He was a Veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. He was a retired IBM employee for 37 years. Don was the owner of The John Barleycorn Tavern, Owego, NY, for 17 years.

Don's passion, besides being devoted to his family, was gardening, creating rock gardens, shaping bushes, planting flower beds, and riding his tractor was his true joy. Don's proudest achievement was designing and building his home in 1955. Don and Marguerite enjoyed 17 winters in Destin, FL.

Private Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, Thursday from 5-7 p.m.
