Mary was born, 1 Jan, 1852, Queenston, Niagara, Ontario, Canada, daughter of John (Sinnington, Yorkshire, England ) and Susan (Mills) (Nympsfield, Gloucestershire, England) Prest Jr. There was some confusion about when Mary and William Joseph Rubadeux married, but their first son together, John Camel Rubadeux, was born (1869 -1951) in New York State. Their second son, Charles Avril Rubadeux, was born (1871 -1925) at Beach Haven, Luzerne, Pennsylvania. All the rest of their eleven children were born in the Toledo, Ohio area, with Cora Grace, the oldest (1873-1948), Mabel Edna (1875-1912), Bertha May (1878-1952), Edwin Joseph (1879-1954), Frank Dobson (1882-1949), Grover Cleveland (1884-1934), Maude E (1887-1963), Iva Della (1888-1950), William, infant(1890). Together with William Joseph, Mary also raised his son, George William, by William Joseph's first wife, Elizabeth Conner. One other son was born to William and Elizabeth, Lovell Bertram, but Lovell was raised with his mother, Elizabeth. With Mary's birthday falling on 1 Jan, her grandchildren remember going to her home every New Years Day, for a combined New Years and birthday celebration.
