Mr. Lankford was a native of Portales, N.M., and lived in Modesto 20 years.
He worked for Tri Valley Growers for 10 years.
He was a member of Modesto Central Seventh-day Adventist Church.
He enjoyed music, religious radio programming and gardening.
He is survived by his children, Ronda Coito of Gustine, Sharrie Bowker of Gillette, Wyo., and Kristy Domecq of Modesto; brothers, Frank Lankford of Turlock and Marvin Lankford of Burney; sister, Nora Luse of Modesto; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Modesto Central Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Private burial at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella.
The Neptune Society of Central California, Modesto, in charge of arrangements.
