was born February 10, 1926 near Bethany Mo to William and Hattie Kidwell. He was a country boy until he and his younger brother quit school to join the Navy during WWII. Paul served as a gunners mate on a troop/supply ship in the European theater and the Pacific from 1943-1946.
He married Irma Maxine Berend May 30th 1948, they had three children Craig, Diane, and Judy. He studied electronics at numerous technical institutes in California. He went on to work at Southwestern Bell in Kansas City, first as a lineman and exchange repairman, then the majority of his 35 years with the company as a radio specialist working in the radio shop with microwave televised events such as the Plaza Lighting TV event, televising the Royals and Chief games, also was an important part of broadcasting the national political conventions. He also was with the Secret Service Men who were assigned to President Truman during his stay at the hospital. Paul also helped in the broadcast of his funeral and was a part of the inauguration of John F Kennedy. When satellite systems and computers took over broadcasting he was happy to retire after 35 years of service to the company.
Paul lost his wife Irma to cancer, and after three years, he married Helen Irene Brown. He and Helen retired to Osceola and built a log home on seven wooded acres in June of 1986, because he had enjoyed hunting and fishing in the area with his son Craig for many years.
Paul was a member of the Masons and the Ararat Shrine Marching Patrol Unit made up of service veterans. He was one of the few fishermen who approached the Corps of Engineers to take over the Brush Creek access to the Osage River when it faced closing, forming the Friends Of Brush Creek organization and serving on the board helping to improve and maintain the grounds. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers who are telephone company retirees, and a member of the VFW. He was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Osceola.
Paul was preceded in death by brothers Virgil, Glen, and sisters Lena, Roberta (Bobbie), Bea, Ruby, Bertha (Billie), and infant Vesper.
