Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at De Smet for Albert Wubbena, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. Van Ningen in Huron last Monday night at the age of 74 years, eight months, and four days. Although he had been in failing health for the past six months, Mr. Wubbena's death came suddenly from a heart attack.
Born in Forreston, Ill., June 12, 1873, he was married to Elizabeth Brugman, April 4, 1900 at Grundy Center, Ia. They had eight children, three of whom died in infancy.
Mr. Wubbena farmed in Iowas until 1906 when he and his family moved to a farm nine miles north of De Smet. His first wife died Aug. 2, 1928 and June 22, 1937 he married Ann Hinricks. They moved to De Smet in 1939 when he retired from farming. His second wife preceded him in death May 12, 1946.
He was a member of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church of Manchester.
Surviving are five children, Ray Wubbena, Mrs. Roy (Lillian) Van Ningen, Mrs. Elvin (Alyce) Hamen, Lester Wubbena, all of De Smet; Mrs. Clarence (Florence) Van Ningen, Huron; three brothers, Henry Wubbena, Freeport, Ill.; Simon and Ralph Wubbena, of Baileyville, Ill., and one sister, Mrs. David (Nellie) Aswegan of Parkersburg, Ia. Also surviving are eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Spirit Lake Presbyterian Church with the Rev. H.T. Dexter officiating. Burial was in the family plot at the church cemetery.
