Thomas Preston Dennis, 92, of El Dorado, died Sunday, July 6, 2014.

He was born Dec. 6, 1921, in Emerson to William E. and Lillian Green Dennis.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Pearolee Lydia Dennis; his son, Paul Dennis; his sister, Lillie Gordy; his brother, Emmett Dennis; and his parents.

He is survived by his son, Phillip and his wife, Christie, of El Dorado; son, David of Texas; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His own words concerning his immediate and extended family were "I love my people!"

Preston was owner of Dennis Construction Company in El Dorado and was involved in residential and commercial building projects throughout the area for many years.

He was loved and respected by all and will be greatly missed by those who had the good fortune of knowing him. He was unpretentious, never met a stranger, loved his wife and followed Godly principles his entire life. There is no finer man.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. today at Young's Funeral Home in El Dorado.

Funeral services with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, at First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Alan Womack officiating. Burial will follow in Old Parkers Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.

Memorials may be made to First Assembly of God Church, 2225 W. Hillsboro, El Dorado, AR 71730.
