Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 15, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Monsignor John A. Richter celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 – 7 PM Monday and 7:30 – 10 AM Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm.
Irene is survived by her daughters, Marlys (John) Waibel, Karen (Lester) Stadick, Brenda Wear (Dondi Faerber), all of New Ulm, Deb (Greg) Colleen of Ham Lake; a son, Ron (Doris) Domeier of Owatonna; 11 grandchildren;12 great grandchildren; brother, Sylvester Sprenger of New Ulm; a sister, Doris (Ken) Biser of Circle Pines; and by many nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Benjamin; a son, Robert; a granddaughter, Lori Waibel; great grandchildren, Jacob & Josh Janni; brothers, Walter and Victor Sprenger; and by her sisters, Lauretta Domeier, Alice Sellner and Theresa Sprenger.
Irene Emma Sprenger was born July 8,1918 to Bruno & Francis (Liesenfeld) Sprenger in Sigel Township, Brown County where she also attended country school. She worked as a nurse's aide at various locations and then at KFC in New Ulm. She was one of the first residents of Broadway Haus in New Ulm & lived there until moving to Oak Hills Living Center in 2011. She enjoyed making sauerkraut & cookies to give to friends & family. Irene loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Cathedral Parish of New Ulm.
