Williams, age 21/22, a farmer, born in Dade County, Missouri enlisted with the 8th Missouri Volunteer Cavalry, USA on September 4, 1862 in Springfield, Missouri as a Pvt. in Company "K". - September 1862 Absent With Leave to Report 1st October {?}. - October 1/16 or November 1, 1862 Promoted to Corp. at Springfield, Missouri. - November 14, 1862 Absent, Left Sick in Quarters at Springfield, Missouri. - December 26/27, 1862 Absent, Sick near Fayetteville, Arkansas. - January to May 1863 Absent, Sick in Greene County, Missouri. - May 24, 1863 Discharged by Order of General Herron for Disability in Dent County, Missouri/Lake Spring, Missouri by Surgeon's Certificate of Disability for Discharge. - [States: While on Duty as a convalescent in Springfield, General Hospital, he says thrown from horse and received an injury to his head which rendered him insensible for a time, complained of constant pain in head with vertigo {Unreadable} of Epilepsy.
