Edward V. Balen, 77, of Alton died at 3:05 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 1986, at Saint Anthony's Hospital.
Born in Venice, son of the late Felix and Stella (Meliston) Balen, he married the former Mary Bonan on Nov. 15, 1931, in Greenville.
He was employed at Wells Tire Co., in Alton from 1931 until his retirement as manager in 1968.
Surviving, are his wife; and a sister, Cornella Welch of St. Louis.
There will be no visitation. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 8 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. Masses are preferred as memorials.
