Obituary published in The Berkshire Evening Eagle, Pittsfield, Berkshire County, Monday, January 20, 1919, pg. 9:

Death of Frank Contois:
Franklin Contois, aged 65 years, beloved old man of North street died Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at his home of heart trouble and pneumonia complications. He had been ill for some time. Being of unusually kind nature no man on North street save perhaps the late E.B. Hume will be missed so much by the youngsters. He was born October 9, 1853 in South Berlin, N.Y. and has lived in Dalton since March 1885.
On December 11th he compiled a history of 60 years that he had recorded in a diary. During this time he had recorded the various great happenings of our nation beginning in the year 1858 down to the date December 11th. Interesting town statistics are placed in record in the book. In 1882 he went to Lanesboro and took the William Bradley farm. He stayed there 10 years. In 1894 he built the present home, and recorded that in this year the new Methodist church was built. In 1896 he went for nine years on the Ensign Smith farm. He was twice married, his first wife being Etta Quimby of New Hampshire. The wedding took place in 1874. His second wedding was on September 4, 1917 to Etta Van Wert of Chester, who survives him.
He also leaves four sisters, Mrs. W.R. Jones, Berlin, N.Y.; Mrs. Frank Michlieu, South Berlin, N.Y.; Mrs. John Magee, Hobokus, N.J.; and Mrs. Thomas Buckler, Pittsfield, and three brothers, George Contois, Whittingham, Vt., Rev. P. Contois, Sutton, Vt., and Andrew Contois of Cheshire; also his grandson, Francis Converse. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon from the late home at 2 o'clock, Rev. Walter Heisler, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Interment will be in the family plot in the Main street cemetery.
