Clyde was the son of Robert Lee and Margaret Ann Hinkle Chaney. He married Dollie Glover 27 November 1929 in Van Zandt County, Texas. They were the parents of four children.
Dollie died 30 December 1967. He married second to Rachael Loriene Bailey Fincher on 17 January 1969 in Van Zandt County, Texas.
Clyde lived in Van Zandt county, Texas until 1941 when he moved to Alice Texas. In 1956, he moved to Dallas, Texas where he resided until 1969.He then moved to Canton where he lived at the time of his death. Rev. Bill Chaney and Rev. L.A. Goodson held his funeral services. At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, Rachael Fincher Chaney; daughters, Dale Roberts and Gale Spross; stepdaughters, Eloise Cromier,Daphine Clemmons, Ima Todora, Farrie Cox; step-son, Truman Fincher.
They were also parents of Ruth Chaney Roberts, 3 Mar 1931-16 Oct 1950. She died in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas and her death certificate states that she was buried in Alice, Texas. (name of cemetery not stated on death certificate)
