Jan was a native of the Catskill Mountains, born and raised and was a proud graduate of Onteora HS Class of 1965. She was a life member and past president of the Big Indian/Oliverea Fire Department. Her favorite past times included reading, word puzzles and music by everyone from Sugarland to Cher, Bon Jovi to Alan Jackson. She loved watching crime dramas like CSI, animals shows like Meerkat Manor and she absolutely loved to watch the WWE. Her passion in collecting was Grist Mills, from photos to ceramics she had an extensive collection. She also enjoyed classic cars and enjoyed attending car shows all over the east coast. She was recently a resident of the Mountainside Care Center in Margaretville, NY. She was the daughter of Richard and Barbra Bedell Gavette and the sister of the now deceased Rande Gavette. She is survived by her devoted husband George Long of Oliverea, NY and her loving daughter Naomi Long of Oliverea, NY/Indianapolis, IN.
