Jefferson Davis "Buster" Woods, Jr.

ALGOA - Jefferson Davis "Buster" Woods, Jr., passed away, Thursday, June 17, 2004, at his residence in Algoa, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 21, 2004, in the Memorial Room of Broadway Funeral Home, Galveston, with Fr. Gerald Lewis, S.V.D., officiating. Burial will follow services Monday at Lakeview Cemetery, also in Galveston. Gathering for visitation will be held on Sunday, June 20, 2004, in the Memorial Room of Broadway Funeral Home. Mr. Woods’ family will be receiving friends Sunday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Mr. Woods was born October 18, 1922, on Galveston Island. For 35 years he was employed as a painter for Todd Shipyards until such time that he retired.

Mr. Woods is preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Woods, his parents Jefferson Davis Woods, Sr. and wife, Rose Franks Woods, one of his brothers, Bob Woods and also sisters, Mamie McKenzie and Katie Autry. He leaves behind many fond memories with his children, Frances Harrell and husband, Paul of Livingston, Texas, Rose Marie Thompson and husband, Jay of Mesa, Arizona and Jeff Woods, III and wife, Karol of Santa Fe, Texas. Sharing in his loss, also, are Mr. Woods’ grandchildren, Todd Harrell, Jared Harrell and wife, Leah, Stacie Coats and husband, Eric, Walter Shannon and wife, Tamara, Jeff Woods, IV and wife, Sarah, Jonathon Woods and Kimberly Woods and his great-grandchildren, Brittany Coats, Brandi Coats, Ian Shannon and Hayden Shannon and one step-great-grandchild, Kiara Havens. Saddened, too, is Mr. Woods’ sister, Rose Chenoweth of Tacoma, Washington; his three brothers, Johnnie Woods and wife, Karen of Santa Fe, Texas, George Woods of Freeport and Tommie Woods and wife, Judy of Willis, Texas, his numerous nieces and nephews, a host of other loving family and friends. He will be sadly missed.

Pallbearers will be George Woods, Johnnie Woods, Tommie Woods, Walter Shannon, Todd Harrell and Jared Harrell.
