Spec. 4/c U.S. Army, {RA15761851}, Vietnam War-Spec. Shoop was killed in action near Dak To, South Vietnam during Operation MacArthur on 11-19-1967 while serving as an Indirect Fire Infantryman with Co. A of the 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade. Spec. Shoop started his tour of Vietnam on 3-5-1967.

He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. John H. Shoop, Sr. of P.O. Box 67, Rural Ridge, Pennsylvania, and he enlisted with the Army in Pittsburg on 8-31-1966.

Awards: Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Parachute Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with One Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal.
