Gulfport, MS ~ Edward James "Ed" Addison, Sr., age 89, of Gulfport, passed away on July 10, 2014 in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Wilma Addison; and his brother, Tommy Addison.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Hilda Rhyne Addison of Gulfport; his children, Debbie Pidek and her husband Gordon and Jimmy Addison and his wife, Donna; his grandchildren, Chesa Reno, Greyson Reno, Jordan Addison and Taylor Addison; and his former son in law, Gene Reno.
Ed was a proud World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Navy on the destroyer USS Hilary P. Jones in the South Pacific.
He grew up in Addison's Gun Shop in Kissimmee, FL, a business founded by his father and still in operation. Having enjoyed collecting guns over his life, he served as a local gun expert for many years for WLOX and others.
An avid deer hunter, he hunted across North America and enjoyed his many years as a member of the Kings Island Deer Club near Vicksburg.
Ed was a sports enthusiast and Atlanta Braves fan. He followed his son Jimmy's, baseball career and never missed a game from his early childhood through his career at the University of Southern Mississippi.
He dearly loved his family and friends and was of the Baptist faith. He worked in the insurance industry as an insurance executive, was a Master Mason and a member of the American Legion.

At Ed's request and because of his love of having served his country, Biloxi National Cemetery will be his final place of rest where a graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 10:00 AM.
