Kathryn "Kathy" Jean JacobsOctober 5, 1955June 23, 2014On the afternoon of Monday, June 23, 2014 Kathy passed away after a 6 year battle with cancer in Reno, NV. Kathy was 58 years old. Kathy was born October 5, 1955 in Quincy, CA to Harold Richards and Sandra Taborski and later moved to Reno, NV. Kathy married the love of her life, Cliff Jacobs, in 1975. Together they raised 4 wonderful children. Kathy built a support system and gave a voice to victims of violent crimes, a cause personal to her, by starting VICTORY with her good friend Tammy Ingraham. Later, Kathy worked for the Crisis Call Center as the SASS Coordinator. After years of growing that program she became the Executive Director of the Crisis Call Center, a job she held until her final days. She received many awards and accolades including the JC Penny Golden Rule Award, a Rotary Club Commendation for service above self, and the Health and Human Services Network's Mike O'Callahan Humanitarian Award.Kathy is survived by her husband Cliff, mother Sandra, brother Karl, sons Michael & Steven, daughters Kristen and Laura, as well as grandkids, sons in laws, and many friends who all loved her. A celebration of her great life will be held on August 31st at 4:30pm-for more information contact [email protected].
