Virginia R. Abenante died Wednesday,
March 11, 2009 in her home.
She was born in the Bronx, a daughter of the late Angelo and Helen Keelan Abenante and had lived in Bound Brook, NJ prior to moving to Hendersonville, NC twenty years ago. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Lucille Killop and Florence Abenante and brothers, Michael and James Abenante.
Virginia retired from AT&T as Staff Assistant after forty years of service and had served as Recording Secretary for the New Jersey chapter of Telephone Pioneers. She was a member of B.P.W. of New Jersey, a life member of the Rosarians, a 12 year member of St. Joseph's church choir in Broad Brook, and a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church. Virginia enjoyed bowling, was a Sunday painter, and loved all animals.
Survivors include her sister; Lorraine; many nieces and nephews, to whom she was devoted; beloved dog, Kelly and her cat, Lilly Belle.
She was a wonderful sister, aunt, and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.
A memorial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church with Father John Salvas officiating. Internment will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, New York. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 15, 2009, from 6 until 8:00 p.m., with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
