Halifax,MA Thomas J. Marzilli, 76, of Halifax formally of Whitman died Tuesday in Easton Lincoln Nursing and rehabilitation Center after a long period of failing health. He was the husband of Dorothea Elaine (Parsons) Marzilli.

Born in Worcester he was a son of the late Joseph T. and Eleanor (DeThoma) Marzilli.

He served in the U.S. Navy Air Corp in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He later earned a private pilot's license and from 1948-1955 he was a lieutenant in the Civil Air Patrol flying search and rescue and training missions and working with the cadets

He also served as a lieutenant in the Whitman Auxiliary Police as a special officer for the town and was a member of the civil defense ham radio operators network.

Mr Marzilli worked for E.O. & G. Inc and was involved with the atom bomb testing in the pacific and Nevada for many years. He then turned his skills to the space program and received a metal from NASA for his contribution in the success of the moon landing program.

He was listed in Who's Who in Engineering" and retired as vice president of engineering from Mutron Corp in Brockton in 1991.

He was a member of the Wampatuck Lodge , A.F & A.M. the Spellman council 347 Knights of Columbus of Whitman, American Legion Post 22 in Whitman, the Halifax Mobie Home association and the Kidney transplant dialysis Association.

He was active in the Casey Golf League until his health failed, and he also enjoyed fishing, conoeing, photography and camping which took him on may extended trips around the country.

He was a communicant of of Holy Ghost church for 4 years and sang in the choir for almost 25 years.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a son Joseph Marzilli of Brockton; four daughters , Marily Ross of RI, Donna Marzilli of Taunton, Paula Marzilli and Anita Marzilli both of Pennsylvania; two brothers Joseph Marzilli of Marston Mills and John Marzilli of Apollo Beach Fla.; a sister Eileen Marzilli of West Roxbury; a daughter in law; a son in law two sister in laws; two grandsons, a granddaughter and many nieces and nephews . He was a brother of the late Angello "Bill" Marzilli.

His funeral will be from the Blanchard Funeral chapel, Plymouth Street Whitman MA followed by a funeral service in Holy ghost church Whitman MA. Burial will be in Central Cemetery Halifax MA.
