Mrs. Edna Bowman Succumbs to Wounds Inflicted by Husband
Jocular Remark Cause Of Rash Shooting
Arrangements Made for Disposition of Bodies of the Victims

Edna Bowman died at St. Mark's hospital Friday morning at 4:30 o'clock, seven hours after she was shot by her husband, Edgar Bowman, in the presence of several friends at 64 West Second South, in Thursday night's frightful double tragedy. Mrs. Bowman lost consciousness shortly after midnight and did not afterwards recognize either her father or mother.
The parents of the girl, C. I. Franks, known as a detective throughout the State, and Mrs. John (Nellie) Eva, separated years ago, but met, forgetful of the past, over the deathbed of their daughter. Both were anxious to assist Police Surgeon Paul at the emergency hospital at the city jail, and they rode side by side in the ambulance that carried the dying girl to St. Mark's hospital.
It is now thought that a joking answer of Mrs. Bowman's was the immediate cause of her husband's rash act. He asked: "Do you love me now?" She answered jocularly, "No."
Not another word was passed until he had drawn his gun and began shooting, saying to the people in the room: "If you don't clear out I'll kill all of you."
Mrs. Bowman's funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock from Hall's undertaking parlors. The body will be taken to Bingham Junction, where her grandmother lives, and buried there. [obviously there was a change in plans]
Bowman's body will be shipped to Los Angeles, where his father lives. It is now in the morgue at O'Donnell's.
Pursuant to the death certificate: Daughter of E. A. and Ellen Nora (Hogenson) Franks. She died at the age of 21, of a gunshot wound to the chest.
