Carl "Bud" Bong from Poplar, Wis. died on June 19, 2014, in San Diego after five years of Lewy Body Dementia.
He lived in Osseo, Wis. for many years where he taught art. He chronicled the life of his brother, Major Richard Bong, America's Ace of Aces, in two books: The Dick Bong Story, co-written by Mike O'Connor and Dear Mom, So We Have a War.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Anna (Niemi), three children Wade, Richard and Jody;, and sisters Bobbie, Jerry and Joyce.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Deborah "Jill" who died on April 22, 2013, after a long and valiant fight with brain cancer; his parents Carl and Dora; brothers Dick and Jim; and sisters Nelda, Betty and Sue.
