Harold Madison Jacklin, Sr., 96, died at 6 AM Thursday [March 10, 1988] in his Lafayette home. Born Dec. 28, 1891, at Toronto, Ontario, Canada, he came to the United States in 1896. He received his bachelor's degree in 1913 and his master's degree in 1919 in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University. His marriage was Aug. 1, 1915, at Towson, MD, to Florence Marie Hayes, who died in 1977.

Prof. Jacklin was a professor of mechanical engineering at Purdue University from 1927 to 1943. He also taught mechanical engineering at University of Wisconsin, Ohio State University, Ohio Northern University, and did consulting work for various organizations. After leaving this area in 1943, he lived in several different locations, returning here in 1974. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a former member of Lafayette Lions Club.

Surviving are three sons, Harold M. Jacklin, Jr. of Tulsa, OK, Maurice H. Jacklin of Indianapolis, and Earle A. Jacklin of Thousand Oaks, CA; two daughters, Mildred (Mrs. J.W.) Craft of Phoenix, AZ, and Mrs. Barbara J. Tracy of Lafayette; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
