John Wilson Bedwell was the son of the Rev. James Bedwell (1771-1856) and Jane Wells. He married Martha Sarah "Patsey" Pool on December 20, 1821. They had fourteen children. At least eleven of them lived to adulthood. John passed away on March 24, 1863, and his widow lived on until some time after the 1880 census. His known children are; Talitha BEDWELL 1824-1897, Erasmus Bedwell 1827-1880, Wiley Bedwell 1829=1264, Eliza BEDWELL 1831-, Levi Bedwell 1833-1908, Alfred Bedwell 1837-1885, William M. Bedwell 1838-, Charlotte BEDWELL 1841-, Nancy A. BEDWELL Poole 1844-1924, Felix Bedwell 1845-1907, Giles Bedwell c1847-bef.1850, and Martha BEDWELL Phelps 1849-.
