Alabama State Senator and Congressman. Norris served in the Alabama State Legislature in the late 1830s and early 1840s. Following the US Civil War, Norris emigrated to Brazil, where he helped established the town of Americana, which became a haven for Confederate immigrants.
William's first wife was Melinda Black Norris, who died in 1832 in Wilcox County, Ala. She was the mother of his son, James Reece Norris (Sr.) (1829-1898) -- Find A Grave Memorial# 44995713.
