"Lewis Francis Barnhart, 65, of 741 Locust, Kansas City, Kansas, died Tuesday night at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he had been a patient only a few hours.

Mr. Barnhart was born in Meta, Mo., in 1893 and had spent most of his life in the greater Kansas City area. He was owner of the Barnhart Adding Machine Company of Trenton, Mo., and had been employed by the Burroughs Adding Machine Company 25 years previous to starting his own business. He was a member of the Shawnee, Kas., Masonic lodge.

Mr. Barnhart is survived by his wife, Mrs. Etta May Barnhart of the home; a son, James L. Barnhart, also of the home; a brother, Oscar Barnhart of Flint, Mich.; and a grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday at the Amos chapel in Shawnee. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery in Chillicothe, Mo." (The Kansas City Times, January 15, 1959)
