Julia "Kathleen" Pratt of Houston and College Station, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of October 5, 2012. She was born on October 18, 1936 in Beaumont, Texas to Max and Sarah Jones.
She married Jerald Lindsay Oaks in 1958. Jerry was employed by Phillips Petroleum and they lived in Louisiana, Corpus Christi, Houston, and Bartlesville, before moving overseas to Bogota Columbia. They had two children, Lindsay and Kristi. Jerry and Kathy parted ways in 1969, but she continued to shower her children with love and support the rest of her life.
Kathy moved to College Station, where she earned a degree in Journalism from Texas A&M University. In 1976 she married Robert (Bob) Pratt and moved to Houston to begin working for Dresser Industries in their Communications' Department. She handled their publications, and eventually their Trade Shows for 27 years, even as the company changed hands and became Baker Hughes. She traveled the country and the world helping to set up Trade Shows. She retired in 2003. Her passions were photography, writing, travel, her greyhounds which she adopted, and her family and children. She had many challenges throughout her life, and faced them all with courage, grace, and tenacity. Kathy was along time member of Cypress Creek Christian Church near her home in Spring, Texas and the love and support of her many friends there were a sustaining element in her life. She was preceded in death by her son Jerald "Lindsay" Oaks, Jr. Survived by daughter Kristi and husband Mike Accarrino of Tavernier, FL; her brother Harry and wife Judy Jones of College Station, TX and her grandchildren Sara, Gilbert and Gillian of Pullman, WA. She will be missed by nieces Robin Jones of College Station and Michelle Martin and husband Cray of Bellville, and nephew Patrick Jones and wife Deanna of Houston. Bob's family, sons Robert "Bobby" Pratt, Jr. and wife Margaret, and William
"Billy" Pratt and Pratt children, Taylor Pratt Barnes and husband Stephen, and Terri Pratt Gaston and husband Darrell completed her circle of family. She was also especially close to Bob's mother Miriam "Nanny" Brick, her favorite traveling companion.
