Theodore Ned Caldwell, (Ned), passed away December 7th, 2020 at the age of 97. He was born in Portage, Ohio to the late, Raymond and Musie (Smith) Caldwell. He was a 1941 graduate of Bowling Green High school and attended Bowling Green State University as a pre-med student. It was there he met the love of his life Frances (Earl) Caldwell and the couple was married in June of 1944 shortly after Ned's return from U.S. Army, Basic and Combat Medic training. Ned served in WWII as a surgical assistant in a combat field hospital in the Philippine Islands and was very proud of his service, but rarely talked about it other than to tell stories to the grandkids about the "Monkeys of Zamboanga". Ned was employed by the City of Bowling Green, Ohio Electric Department. Having started as a ground man and working through the department, he retired after 30 years as superintendent in 1978. He later went on to head the safety division of Utilities Construction Co, of Charleston SC. Retiring again in 1990.

Ned had a lifelong interest in aviation and was a licensed private pilot. In his later years, he greatly enjoyed any opportunity to take a flight with Ken Moir and would talk about it for months. He also enjoyed a Manhattan and a spirited poker game with his friends in the poker club. But he most enjoyed time spent with Frances, be it traveling, less hurried times on their boat, or in the home workshop making wooden crafts and furniture. He cared for her, never missing a day until her passing in 2018.

Ned was a 32nd degree York Rite Mason and a member Wood County Masonic Lodge #112, Bowling Green, Ohio

Ned is survived by three children, John, (Linda) Caldwell of NC, Ann Fegley, of MN and James (Alexandra) Caldwell of MA. Ned loved hearing from his five grandchildren, Laura Fegley, Tina (Mark) Wiggins, Stephen (Sara) Caldwell, George Caldwell, and Lizzy (Zac) Curylo and was especially fond of visits from his two great grandchildren, Ethan Wiggins and Hugo Theodore Fegley.

Due to the COVID pandemic, a family celebration of Ned's life will occur at a later date.
