APRIL 3, 1935 – MAY 13, 2020
Sarah S. Hays of Pinson, Alabama went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at the age of 85. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who was very much loved and will be greatly missed. Sarah was retired from General Personnel where she worked as office manager and was a longtime member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Pinson, Al. She enjoyed working in her gardens and loved cooking for her family and friends. She was known at church socials and pot-luck for her coconut cakes and chicken and dumplings. People would fight over the last bite of cake or who got to scrape the dumpling bowl clean. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, Carlton Eugene Hays; her son, Mark Hays; parents, Howard and Leola Sims; brother, Joe Robert Sims and a sister, Nancy Bassett. She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Eric Hays (Kim) and Mark Alan Hays; a sister, Betsy Lardent-Waldrop; grandchildren, Matthew Hays (Jennifer), Austin Hays, Luke Hays, and Aubrey Hays; great grandchildren, Ava Joye Hays and Harvey Ross Hays; several nieces, nephews, many friends and her church family. Services will be held on Friday, May 15, 2020 from the Hopewell Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow in Hopewell Baptist Cemetery in Pinson, AL. Rev. Bill Evans will officiate services.
