Marvin Floyd Osborne, 61, retired engineer with CSX Railroad and resident of Greasy Branch Road in the Culleoka Community, died Monday, March 31, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Jim Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Scribner's Mill Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. and Thursday from 12:00 – 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to Pet Pals of Maury County, P. O. Box 1623, Columbia, TN 38402. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com.

The Marshall County native was the son of the late Walter Floyd Osborne and Virginia Pollock Osborne. He was a 1971 graduate of Culleoka High School and served in the U. S. Army. After honorably serving his country, he began his career with CSX Railroad where he worked for thirty-eight years until his retirement on September 13, 2012. Mr. Osborne loved animals and some of his favorite pastimes include gardening, walking, and traveling. He was a member of Smyrna Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, whom he married February 12, 2003, Debra Grooms Osborne of Culleoka; children, Amanda Osborne (Damon) Underwood of Norfolk, Virginia; Richard Osborne of Lewisburg; Austin Pope and Preston Pope, both of Columbia; grandchild, Cheyenne Osborne of Summertown; mother-in-law, Betty Lentz Grooms of Columbia; sisters-in-law, Patti Grooms (Tom) Hollinsworth and Pam Grooms (Tony) Cobble, both of Columbia; brother-in-law, David Grooms of Columbia; numerous cousins; and his beloved dogs, Jackson, Bella, Pep, and Dexter.

Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Pollock, Jimmy Daniels, Tony Cobble, Wayne Harvey, Chris Daniels, John Pollock, and Larry Osborne. Honorary pallbearers include Tom Hollinsworth, David Grooms, Steve Halloway and employees of CSX Railroad.
