OBITUARY

Vivienne Audette Charlebois
OCTOBER 11, 1919 – MARCH 5, 2014

Vivienne Audette Charlebois, 94, originally from Arlington VA, died at The Hospice House in Charlottesville on March 5, 2014. She was born in Chicopee Massachusetts and after a lifetime of traveling the world with her beloved husband Roland, settled in Arlington for 36 years. She spent her last four years at The Colonnades in Charlottesville. Vivienne came from a family of two siblings; Lorraine and Donald. She attended a convent school in Hudson, NH. After losing her brother to injuries sustained while in the Army during the Second World War she enlisted in the Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC. Her upbringing gave her a great sense of personal pride in having everything in order and absolutely clean. This attributed to her ability to solve puzzles; order out of chaos. Vivienne worked as a homemaker, secretary, bookkeeper, bank teller and worked in retail sales as Roland's career led her and her young family to travel the world. She contributed extensively to many charities and was a dedicated Red Cross volunteer. Her favorite posting was to Paris, France which inspired an incredible love of French cuisine as she was able to take classes at Julia Child's Cooking School. Her home base was Arlington VA as shopping and touring in Washington were favorite past-times. Vivienne loved to sing and was a remarkable seamstress and knitter. She is survived by her daughter Denise Burger with spouse David of Front Royal, VA and son Donald with spouse Donna of Keene, VA. She is also survived by grandchildren; Jessie, Angela, Anna, Danielle and Jason and great grandchildren, Elijah, Roland, Haley and Brielle. She lost her son David, an American Airlines pilot in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and her husband Roland in January of 2010. The family is grateful for the loving, acceptance and care we found at the Colonnades and the generous spirits at the Hospice House. A funeral mass will be held March 31st at St. James Catholic Church in Falls Church VA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the David M Charlebois Memorial Scholarship at Embry Riddle University, 600 S Clyde Morris Blvd., Daytona Beach FL 32114.
