He retired as Assistant Resident Engineer (1951-1985) for the Kentucky Department of Highways and was a WWII US Army Signal Corps veteran.
Survivors include his wife - Helen Louise Perkins Burns, Daughters - Sherry E. (Bill) Lindsay of Worthville, KY and Ladonna S. (Todd) Foreman of Louisville, KY, 3 grandchildren - Eric (Tonya) Lindsay of Owenton, KY, Jeana (Kevin Bartram)McGuire of Carrollton, KY and Leah (Todd) Guilford of Louisville, KY, 4 great grandchildren - Daniel S. Lindsay, Connor McGuire, Trenton McGuire and Raegan Guilford. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother - Kirtley Burns.
