Visitation will be Sunday, July 13, from 4 until 7 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 14, at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, with military rites accorded by American Legion Post 246, Moline.

David Jay Gustafson was born in Moline on Aug. 10, 1944, to Walter K. Gustafson and Laura "Bette" Reuter. He attended Moline schools and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961 until 1965.
He was employed for a time by East Moline Metal Products and by Springfield Armory. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and 3-D shoots and loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include daughters, Amy (Brad) Beeding, East Moline, and Laura (John) Belville, Coal Valley; sons, David (Kumok) Gustafson II, Geneseo, Danny (Kristine) Gustafson, Charleston, S.C., Eric (Lisyl) Gustafson, Aledo, and Erin Patrick (Cathy) Gustafson, Clarksville, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Jazz and Bell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jaime; and his first wife, Mary.
