Her daughter, Doris Rose Joseph did not marry. She was a successful licensed cosmetologist and was the Kentucky Hairdressers and Cosmetologists Association's first president. The KHCA named their Doris Rose Joseph Award, in her honor. It is the Association's most coveted award and is presented, annually, to the Hairdresser of the Year. Miss Joseph was also a minister in the Spiritualist Church and, for a time, lived at Camp Chesterfield in Chesterfield, Indiana.
After she was widowed, Mrs. Emma Joseph lived with her daughter at Camp Chesterfield and passed away at Community East Hospital in nearby Anderson, Indiana.
•Obituary-Mrs. Emma Boner Joseph, 79, of 2223 Eastern Parkway, died at 3:20 p.m. Friday in Anderson, Indiana where she was visiting her daughter, Mrs. [sic Miss] Doris R. Joseph.
Mrs. Joseph and her late husband, Adolph D. Joseph, for many years operated a number of Ben Franklin 5 & 10 Stores in Louisville. She retired in 1961 as a teller at the First National Bank after 25 years of service.
Other survivors include a son, Adolph D. (Jack) Joseph, Jr. of Prattsville, Ala., and a grandson.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Nunnelly Funeral Home, 4327 Taylor Blvd., with burial in the Resthaven Mausoleum. The body will be at the funeral home after noon Sunday.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Chesterfield Memorial Fund, Camp Chesterfield, Ind.
