Susan E. Lentz was born near Muncy, Lycoming county, PA, Nov. 8, 1858. Her mother died when she was quite young. She came with her father's family to Iowa and then to Holt county, MO, about 19 years ago. After attending school at Oregon two or three years, she began teaching. She soon became well known in the county as a painstaking and successful teacher. It was while teaching at Pleasant Hill that she became acquainted with her husband to whom she was married Dec. 24, 1885.

To Mr. Brownings' children from that day she became a mother, patient and kind watching over and caring for them as if they were her own. As a wife, Mrs. Browning was faithful, loving and true. As a neighbor she was ready at all times to lend a hand, to weep with those who wept, and rejoice with those who rejoiced. She was a consistent Christian, a member of the M.E. Church at Craig. In her death the community sustained a great loss which it fully appreciated as was manifested by the large attendance and great sorrow at the funeral.

Mrs. Browning leaves a babe of a day, which will be tenderly cared for by Mrs. C.E. Wilson, Mr. Brownings' daughter, who but a few days ago buried her own baby. Miss Inex Lentz and Mrs. Cassie Cain of Craig are sisters of the deceased. Funeral services were held at the house Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. conducted by Elder R.B. Preston after which the body was laid to rest in the city cemetery.
