Kenneth "Kenny" Young, age 89, Green Bay, died Monday, Feb. 26,
2007, at a hospital in Sarasota, Fla.
Born in Reedsville, July 18, 1917, he is the son of the late
Fred and Mary (Franz) Young. He married the former Marie C.
Phillip on June 21, 1941, in Maple Grove at St. Patrick's Church
and then moved to Green Bay. Kenny enlisted in the U.S. Navy in
1943 during World War II, where he served both in the Atlantic
and Pacific Theatres. He worked for Cleereman Machine for 30
years before and after the war. Then he worked 10 years at
Machine Specialists and retired. Kenny was a gardener and an
avid fisherman, particularly for trout in northern Wisconsin
and on trips to Canada. He was a longtime member of Saints Peter
and Paul Church, the American Legion Post 11 in Green Bay, and
the VFW Post 6179 in Cato.
He is survived by his wife: Marie, of Green Bay; sister-in-law: Hazel Young, of Milwaukee; many nieces and nephews.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother:
Clarence; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Lawrence (Beulah)
Young and Cyril Young.
Visitation will be held at Malcore Funeral Home, University Ave.
at Baird St., Green Bay, on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until the
time of the funeral.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday,
March 3, 2007, at Saints Peter and Paul Church, Green Bay, with
Monsignor Roy Klister officiating. Military honors will follow.
Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Reedsville.
