MARCELLA VONDRACHEK

Woman Killed in Head-On Crash East of Brillion
Husband and Other Driver Also Injured
Mrs. Vondrachek is County’s 2nd Auto Fatality in Week

Marcella C. Vondrachek, 38, of Rt. 1, Reedsville, was instantly killed in a head-on collision on Highway 10 a mile east of Brillion at 10:55 p.m. Monday.
County Coroner Dr. Theodore Teitgen said an inquest would be held. Mrs. Vondrachek’s husband, Charles F., 42, swung their car off the pavement to avoid a car driven by (name omitted for privacy). The (omitted) car was coming
in the wrong lane of traffic, it was reported.
The maneuver failed. (Omitted) car struck the Vondrachek auto which was a full
foot off the pavement on the shoulder of the road, according to Dr. Teitgen.
The cars were telescoped together so tightly two tractors from neighboring farms
had to be used to pry them apart.
Green Bay Hospital
Vondrachek and (omitted) were taken to St. Vincent Hospital at Green Bay, where both were reported in “fair” condition Tuesday. The husband suffered chest and facial injuries.
Dr. Teitgen said Vondrachek’s brother, Joseph, was following the couple home from Brillion. He said the brother told of seeing the car approach. Charles
Vondrachek kept edging his car towards the shoulder to avoid the (omitted) auto
which was veering into the wrong lane of traffic. The collision occurred on the
shoulder of the highway.
The auto death was the second tragedy in the family since the first of the year.
On March 15, their 11-year-old son (omitted) fell from the barn on their farm and
suffered a brain injury from which he is now convalescing…
Funeral Rites Thursday
Services will be held 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Reedsville Funeral Home
and 9 a.m. and St. Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. William Koutnik will officiate
and burial will be in the church cemetery at Reedsville.
Mrs. Vondrachek was born Marcella Cecilia Kocourek Sept. 8, 1915, in the
town of Maple Grove, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Kocourek Sr. On May 17,
1938, she was married to Charles F. Vondrachek. The couple lived on a farm in the
town of Rockland.
Survivors include the husband; two daughters, at home; two sons, also at

Clarence of Manitowoc, M-Sgt. Roman of Phoenix, Ariz., Harold, John and Lester of
Rt. 1, Reedsville, Ralph of Rt. 2, Two Rivers, and Elroy of Rt. 1, Two Rivers; three sisters, Mrs. Joseph Anhalt of Rt. 2, Two Rivers, Mrs. Norbert Meidl of Rt. 4,
