Mrs. Jean Carter McLeod, 64 of 2210 Boren Brick Road, Roseboro, died on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Duke Raleigh Hospital.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Pleasant Union Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Honeycutt and Rev. Eddie Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Salemburg.

Mrs. McLeod was born on February 14, 1950 in Sampson County to the late Charles Geiger and Viola Harris Carter. She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Johnny Wayne Strickland; her second husband, William Tate McLeod; brothers, Rodney Carter, L.G. Carter and Baxter Carter; sisters-in-law, Gray Byrd and Faye Strickland; brothers-in-law, Dixon Strickland, Bobby Miller and Jervis Faircloth; and a nephew, Jerry Carter. She was the owner and operator of McLeod's Auto Sales for many years along with her husband, Tate.

She is survived by: one daughter, Marjorie Strickland Greenlee and husband, Jim of San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Judy Bennett and husband, John of Clinton; one granddaughter, Brandy Nicole McLeod; one great grandson, Bryton William Hill; eight nieces, nine nephews and many great nieces and nephews; and three grand babies, Captain, Rocky and Oreo.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro and other times at the home.
