Ronald E. Abeln, age 69, of Hendersonville, NC went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 21, 2008 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. Born June 29, 1939 in Salisbury, MO, he was the son of the late Henry and Elizabeth Gulford Abeln from Raytown, Missouri.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Donald Abeln. He lived most of his life in Raytown prior to moving to Hendersonville three years ago. He retired from Cargill, Inc. in Kansas City after almost 30 years. He had been a member of One Spirit United Methodist Church in Kansas City and had joined the congregation of Hendersonville First United Methodist Church. A former member of the Knights of Columbus, he was a member of the United Methodist Mens Group, Optmist International and loved fishing and woodworking.

A memorial service will be held 7:00 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008 at One Spirit United Methodist Church in Kansas City. The family will receive guest in the fellowhip hall of the church following the service. A celebration of his life will be held at the family home in Hendersonville, NC from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Saturday. August 2nd.
