Services for Darlis Staley are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Oakland Baptist Church with the Rev. David Christine officiating. A graveside service will follow in Starr Cemetery. Visitation will be at Hilliard Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
Mrs. Staley passed away at the age of 88 on July 7, 2014, in Canton.
Darlis Gay Cline Staley was born April 22, 1926, in Little River County, Ark. She had been a resident of Canton for 32 years, formerly living in Dallas. She was a member of Oakland Baptist Church and belonged to the Red Hat Club, was a lifetime member of the Rebekahs and also a member of the fraternal Odd Fellows organization. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting and was awarded first place at the Van Zandt County Fair for the intricate United States flag she made.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Burton Cline and Myrtle Olevia Stanley Cline; and sister, Frances Powell.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Arlie Staley, of Canton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Richard Wendt and Ina and Gaylann Hamilton, all of Sunnyvale; six grandchildren, Clinton and Stacey Oliver, Stephen Wendt and Elissa Hoffman, Joshua Wendt, Bonnie and Jeremy Geistweidt, Kimberly and Chad Higginbotham and Eric and Stacie Hamilton; and two great-grandchildren, Brayden and Addison Geistweidt.
If desired, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association , P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C., 20090-6011.
Pallbearers will be Clinton Oliver, Stephen Wendt, Joshua Wendt, Eric Hamilton, Jeremy Geistweidt and Chad Higginbotham.
