W.C. "Curt" Brown, 74, Oregon, Mo., died Thursday, March 2, 1995, at Heartland Hospital East, St. Joseph, Mo.

He was born Sept. 18, 1920, in Oregon to William and Ethel Kennedy Brown. He graduated from Oregon High School in 1938 and Finlay Engineering College, Kansas City. He was a lifelong resident of the Oregon area.

Mr. Brown owned and operated Oregon Plumbing and Heating until his retirement in 1981.

During World War II, he served with the Navy from June 26, 1942, to April 22, 1943, then the Army from June 2, 1944 to April 13, 1946, serving in the European theater.

He was a member of the Oregon Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon. He was also a member of Harris E. Petree American Legion Post No. 190 and the Masonic Lodge, both of Oregon. He had been a member of the South Holt Volunteer Fire Department for many years.

On Sept. 28, 1944, he married Guinnedeane Quick in Troy, Kansas. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine A. Berger, and two brothers, Bob and Don.

Other survivors include three daughters, Sherry Patton, Platte City, Rosemary Hall and Becky Stocklein, both of Oregon; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Saturday at the Presbyterian Church, Oregon. The Rev. David Moon-Wainwright and the Rev. Natalie Moon-Wainwright officiated.

Burial, with full military graveside rites, was in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon, Mo. The Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon, was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Howie Taylor, Jason Taylor, Shane McWilliams, Scott Quick, Tommy Quick, Ed Brown, Steve Mariner and Troy Cotton. Honorary pallbearers were Galen Miller, John Callow, George Wohlford, Jim Roberts, Ronnie Stephenson, Lawrence Nash, John Shields, Jake Lehmer and Ed Richards.
