The right-hander pitched 13 years from 1930-45 with the New York Giants, Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, Boston Red Sox and Boston Braves, compiling a 76-48 record and 3.90 earned run average. He was 60-35 in relief appearances. When he was 11-3 with the Red Sox in 1939, all his victories came in relief. He made 40 career starts, completing 17 of them.
