Mr. Stewart, a native of Hall County, Ga., was a retired supervisor with Georgia Power. He was a member of Riverview Baptist Church and attended Cool Springs Freewill Baptist Church. A graduate of Berry College, he was an avid camper and traveler and member of the Airstream Travel Trailer Club. He was also a ham radio operator and carpenter. He was the son of the late Homer Stewart and the late Luna Sloan Stewart. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Lute Hendricks Stewart, and his siblings; Ralph Stewart, Dewitt Stewart, Travis Stewart, Evelyn Harper and Nettie Thomas. He is survived by his wife: Thelma Pope Stewart of Norman Park; a son: Ellis Stewart, Jr. and his wife Wanda of Reidsville, N.C.; a grandson: Steve Stewart and his wife Terri of Milledgeville; two great-grandchildren: Byron Stewart and Jason Stewart; and two brothers-in-law: E. C. Harper and Clarence Thomas both of Cordele.
