Nellie (Thurow) Hlavachek, age 84, of 133 Trier St., Brillion, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 26, 1998.
The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, August 29, 1998 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Brillion. Officiating will be the Rev. Tom Long, with burial at St. Mary Cemetery, Reedsville.
Nellie was born October 20, 1913 in Ambay, Minn., daughter of the late Henry and Hilka Hass. She married Emil Thurow on April 21, 1934 in Milwaukee. He preceded
her in death May 25, 1950. On June 9, 1962, she married John (Jack) Hlavachek at St. Mary Catholic Church, Reedsville. He preceded her in death July 11, 1989.
Nellie was a clerk at Arndts Grocery Store and the Clover Farm Store, Brillion.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Brillion.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Audrey and Erhardt Wordell, Brillion, Jeannette and David Boeselager, Rockford, Ill.; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Barbara Thurow, Brillion; eight grandchildren, Sue and Russ Cherney, Brillion, Steve and Janelle Wordell, Brillion, Sandy and Richard McWilliams, Brillion, Steward Boeselager,Chicago, Ill., Tim and Kim Boeselager, Rockford, Ill., Amy and Noel Nickel, Rockford, Ill., Holly Thurow and Jason Thurow, Brillion. Nellie had 12 great grandchildren, and was looking forward to the birth of her 13th great grandchild. Also surviving are two brothers and one sister-in-law, William Hass, Elmer and Lilly Hass, Milwaukee; one sister, Anne Kauts, Elk Grove Village, Ill.; one sister-in-law, Geneva Davenport, Minneapolis, Minn.; Jacks family, Mammie Haas, Cato, Emma Dugan, Valders, Frank and Leona Hlavachek, Milwaukee; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, two brothers, and two sisters-in-law.
Friends may call at St. Mary Catholic Church, Brillion, on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established in Nellie's name.
The Wieting Funeral Home, Brillion, is assisting the family with arrangements.
