Stephen P. Dvorachek, age 92, of Country Care Reedsville, passed away on Nov. 30,
2002, at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center in Manitowoc.
He was born December 25, 1909, in the Town of Maple Grove, son of the late Anton
and Anna (Kocourek) Dvorachek. He married Florence Seidl on August 2, 1939, at
St. Ann Catholic Church in Francis Creek. Mr. Dvorachek retired from the Reedsville
Cooperative on Dec. 31, 1975, after 40 years of employment, 30 of those years as
General Manager of the Cooperative. After his retirement he spent his time as a
volunteer for the Red Cross, transporting senior citizens and also delivered for
the Meals on Wheels. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, Brillion. He was a Life
Charter member of the Reedsville Knights of Columbus, a past Grand Knight of the 4th
Degree of the Manitowoc Council. Steve was also a 60 year member of the Reedsville
Lions Club where he was a past President and served as treasurer for 13 years. He
was honored as Citizen of the Year in 1985 and was awarded the Melvin Jones award
in 1994. Steve was very involved in many Reedsville Community projects and served
on numerous committees.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Don (Karla) Dvorachek Sleepy Hollow
Ill; Ken and Debbie Dvorachek, Maple Grove; two daughters and sons-in-law; Dorothy
(Joe) Charney Maribel; Kathy (Tom) Mertens, Brillion; eight grandchildren, Eric
Dvorachek, Champaign, Ill; Elizabeth Dvorachek Chicago Ill; Erin Dvorachek San Diego
Calif; Debra (Kevin) Habeck Maribel; Greg Charney, Maribel; Dave (Carrie) Mertens,
Darboy; Dan (Vicki) Mertens, Brillion; Karen Mertens, Appleton, nine great-grand-
children, a brother and sister, Emil (Dolores) Dvorachek; Christine Kimmel, all of
Manitowoc; eight sisters-in-law Hilaria Dvorachek, Dorothy Dvorachek, both of
Reedsville; Pearl Dvorachek, Kaukauna; Rose Kliment, Green Bay; Helen Denk, Evangeline
Seidl, Marcella (Melvin) Krejcarek, Laverne (Dan) Matczynski, all of Manitowoc. He
is further survived by nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his wife
Florence on December 21, 1991, a son John Dvorachek, four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2002, at Holy Family
Parish, Brillion, with Father Tom Long officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary
Cemetery, Reedsville.
Friends may call at the church on Tuesday December 3 from 9 a.m. until the time of
service.
The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Country Care in
Reedsville, where Steve resided for the past seven years. Rivers Bend staff, and
also Visiting Nurse Hospice team for all their special care and concern for dad.
