"Edward A McBride, aged 81, of 214 West Cooper street, Slippery Rock, died in the Jameson Memorial hospital at 8:45 pm, Thursday, following a short illness. Born near East Brook, September 17, 1870, he had been a resident of Slippery Rock for 32 years, serving as an engineer of buildings for the Slippery Rock State Teachers College. He was a son of Samuel J and Mary Cotton McBride. Mr McBride was a membe of the Zion Baptist church and served on the Board of Deacons for 40 years. He also taught the Adult Bible class up until a short time before his death. Surviving is one son, Ralph; a sister, Mrs Mella Cook of California; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted from the ZIon Baptist church, Sunday at 2:30 pm, and burial will follow in Slippery Rock cemetery. The body will be taken to the chuch at 1:30 pm, where it will lie in state until 2:30 pm. Friends may call at the Ligo funeral home, Slippery Rock..."
