Amy's obituary was published in the 7-15-1915 edition of The Current Local, Van Buren, Carter Co., MO on the front page (used with permission).

"Mrs. Amy McDowell, widow of the late Ganum McDowell, died at the home of her son, Emil, in the Macedonia neighborhood, on Sunday morning at 10 o'clock. She had been ill for a considerable length of time with a very painful throat trouble. She is survived by six children and three step-children, besides many other devoted relatives and friends who mourn her loss.

Mrs. McDowell was a resident of Grandin at the time of her husband's death, eight years ago. She was a member of the M. E. Church, having united with this denomination at the age of fifteen years, and during the remainder of her life was a faithful Christian and a devoted worker in the Master's cause. The funeral services were conducted Monday and the body laid to rest in the Macedonia cemetery in the presence of a large number of sorrowing relatives and friends."
